Baseball, with its unique distinction as the national pastime, has long been a microcosm of America. In 1954, at the zenith of America’s postwar society, historian Jacquez Barzun wrote, "whoever wants to know the heart and mind of America had better learn baseball.”

Today, baseball is a dying sport with a dwindling fan base and myriad of problems that won’t be solved so long as it is beholden to the profit-making interests of owners and advertisers, at the expense of fans like myself. If They Don’t Win It’s a Shame (2021-present) exposes the heart and mind of America within the confines of its pastime.
